If your old pants break, there's still hope - you can salvage the pockets and use them for utility bags. Just cut them off carefully and they're ready for re-use. The zipped pockets are the best.
Utility bags have a million uses. I use these bags to store my cables, batteries, USB keys and other small objects in my luggage or backpack when moving from one place to the next.
